How buyers specify floor springs and door pivots
A floor spring manufacturer in China supplying concealed floor springs, adjustable top pivots and glass top patch fittings for pivot-hung timber, metal and frameless glass doors. Buyers select by leaf weight and door width, then add the matching top pivot and, on glass, the patch. 28 models, made in our own plant, for wholesale and project supply.
Which parts do I need for one pivot-hung door?
- Three, and they are ordered together: the floor spring that carries and closes the leaf, the top pivot that holds its head, and — on frameless glass only — the top patch the pivot clamps to. Each patch record names the spring it pairs with. A spring ordered without its pivot is the commonest way this set arrives incomplete, and the parts are not interchangeable between models.
How do I choose by door weight?
- Every spring publishes its capacity per variant — 60kg / 100kg, 100kg / 150kg, 200kg / 300kg, 80kg / 120kg — and a model number ending in the figure is that variant. Pick the band above your leaf weight, not the one it just fits: glass is heavier than it looks, and a spring at its limit closes slowly and wears early. Confirm the door width on the record as well, because a wide light leaf can exceed a spring the weight alone would have passed.
Is there hold-open, and can the closing speed be set?
- Each record states its maximum opening angle and whether 90° hold-open is offered; the two-stage valve sets closing and latching speed separately. Hold-open must not be specified on a fire door, which has to close every time. The closing-force figures are force bands, not a certification — test reports are published per model on the certificates page, and a model without one is not described as rated.
What has to be right in the floor before the spring arrives?
- The cut-out. Each record gives the size of the hole the cement case sits in, and it is set in the slab before the floor finish goes down — a spring is the one item on this list that cannot be adjusted on site afterwards. Take the cut-out from the record for the exact model you ordered, not from a similar one, and check the spindle height against your finished floor level.
What do you need from me to quote?
- The model numbers or a drawing, the finish, the quantity per model and the destination port. Minimum order and lead time are confirmed per line; most models fall between 300 and 5,000 pieces, and production starts at 30 days from order confirmation. Samples are available before a production order.
