Application brief
The coordinated hardware a pair of fire doors needs to latch: a closer on each leaf and a coordinator that makes them close in the right order.
A pair of fire doors with two closers and no coordinator will close in whichever order the springs decide. When the active leaf arrives first it lands on the edge of an open inactive leaf, the latch never reaches the strike, and the assembly stops being a rated fire door — every fire test certificate assumes the door was latched.
This set is the three-part answer: a closer sized to each leaf, and the DC02 coordinator across the frame head to hold the active leaf back until the inactive one is home. The coordinator is mechanical — no power, no signal, nothing to drift out of adjustment.
Sizing is where a set like this is specified wrong. Leaf weight, closer capacity and coordinator range all have to agree. The DC02 covers leaves of 55–100kg; the closers below cover 40–85kg, so the usable overlap for a coordinated pair runs from 55kg to 85kg. Above 85kg we do not currently make a closer, and the honest answer is that the closer, not the coordinator, is the limit.
Confirm before ordering: leaf weight and width for both leaves, door thickness, whether the pair is rebated or carries an applied astragal, what hardware sits on the inactive leaf, and the fire rating the assembly has to hold.
