Tool
Door closer size calculator. The leaf decides the size, not the room.
EN 1154 grades closers from size 1 to 7. Each size has a maximum leaf width and a maximum leaf mass; work out the size for each and take the higher of the two. A wide light door and a narrow heavy door can need the same closer for different reasons.
A closer below the door's size will not close and latch it against a seal or a draught. One above it closes harder than anyone wants. The products below are matched on the width and weight rows each record publishes; none of our records states an EN 1154 certificate.
Our door closers that cover this leaf
3 by the width and weight their records publish
Our floor springs that cover this leaf
8 by the width and weight their records publish
Where a floor spring's record gives two widths or two weights, we match on the lower figure.
What the size does not settle
Closing speed, latching speed and backcheck are set on site and none of them changes the size. On an accessible opening the maximum opening force is set by the building regulation, and it can conflict with the size the leaf calls for; confirm that figure before you order.
